AIUM Practice Parameter for the Performance of Ultrasound Examinations of the Head and Neck: Step-by-Step Video Tutorial for Performing Individual Examinations
After completing this activity, the participant should be able to describe the normal sonographic appearance of the levels 1 through 5 of the head and neck as well as identify abnormal lesions.
This tutorial demonstrates the techniques for performing head and neck examinations as recommended by the AIUM Practice Parameter for the Performance of Ultrasound Examinations of the Head and Neck. After completing this video, viewers should not only be able to describe the normal and abnormal thyroid gland, but also be able to describe the sonographic appearance of salivary glands and lymph nodes, as well as be familiar with examples of benign congenital and non-malignant lesions (thymus, branchial cleft cyst, TGDC), neurovascular and miscellaneous mass lesions (lymphatic vascular malformations, hemangioma), and infection and trauma (abscessed lymphadenitis, nasal fracture).
